About us

The aim of the Titanium Information Group (TIG) is to influence the initial selection of materials so that the titanium is given the consideration merited by its unique combination of mechanical properties, outstanding resistance to corrosion and cost effectiveness in a wide range of demanding applications.

TIG was founded in 1988 and is renowned as a platform for market intelligence and technical knowledge transfer in the titanium industry.

Regular publications and literature available from TIG present detailed and up-to-date technical and commercial information to materials engineers, plant designers and buyers and provide the answers to everyday questions about, cost, availability, fabrication and use of titanium and its alloys.

Members of the group are available to give presentations about titanium on either general or specific topics to at our meetings and events.

About TIG

The Titanium Information Group is an association of titanium suppliers, fabricators, users and researchers, working together to promote the use of titanium. TIG is renowned for bringing together stakeholders from across all areas of the titanium industry, offering market intelligence and a platform for technical discussion with the aim of supporting the development of titanium and assisting members to access new markets. TIG became part of the Light Metals Division of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining (IOM3)in September 2015.

Become a member of TIG

TIG is a special interest group of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining and offers company membership similar to the IOM3 Industry Affiliate Scheme. TIG Membership is offered to any organisation directly involved in the production or processing of titanium within a value added environment and those providing direct technical services to member organisations (for example test houses or technical consultants). In addition, we welcome applications from those in the academic community who support out industry.

TIG is overseen by a Council of leaders in the field of titanium and its membership represents some of the leading organisations in the industry. TIG Members therefore benefit from technical discussion and knowledge sharing with an informed group having leading expertise.

Market Intelligence

TIG Members benefit from up-to-date information on market opportunities disseminated at quarterly meetings and through monthly e-bulletins. Market intelligence provided directly from the membership is complemented by information on emerging commercial opportunities derived through NAMTEC’s extensive networks of contacts in the defence, aerospace, biomedical and power generation sectors.

Technical Meetings and Events

TIG is renowned as a platform for technical discussion across the titanium industry, bridging the full spectrum of stakeholders from academic researchers to supply chain and end-users. Quarterly meetings structured around technical themes allow members to benefit from knowledge transfer whilst promoting their products and services. See our events list in the menu above.

Visits to TIG Members’ Facilities

TIG provides unrivalled exposure to and insight into the titanium industry by allowing members the opportunity to host meetings, and therefore providing members a platform from which they can promote their products and services and showcase their facilities, whilst developing their understanding of other members’ activities.

Member Promotion

TIG enables members to raise their profile in the titanium industry. In addition to direct interaction with other TIG members through quarterly meetings, TIG provides an online suppliers directory which is widely promoted across the metals and manufacturing industry through NAMTEC’s extensive network of contacts.

Strengthening Links between Academia and Industry

TIG is renowned for strengthening links between academia and industry, allowing researchers at all levels the opportunity to discuss their research, improve their awareness of the industry and increase their exposure to potential sponsors and employers. Likewise, TIG offers industrial members the opportunity to engage with high-calibre prospective future recruits through interacting with universities.

Technical Helpline

TIG Members benefit from receipt of technical enquires which are directed through a manned helpline managed by the experienced IOM3 technical team. The helpline is widely promoted through the extensive IOM3 network of contacts and captures enquiries from across the materials and manufacturing industry. Enquiries which are relevant and valuable to TIG Members are forwarded on to an appropriate contact, enabling members to engage with new market opportunities.
