Recycling Black Plastic into new Food Grade Packaging

Sorting machines previously could not detect black plastics because of the carbon pigment, which meant they were generally sent to landfill

Packaging News now reports that the project has been commended by Environment Secretary Michael Gove.

The result is a circular economy solution to a previously challenging material which will initially see 120 tonnes of black plastic (eight million items) recycled each month starting in July.
