Chairman's statement

Chris Waterhouse - Chairman

Dear Member,

As the newly elected Chairman I’d like to personally welcome you to the Packaging Society Website.  In 2017 we celebrate our 70th “Platinum” Anniversary and it is clear that in that time there have been many fantastic and impressive innovations in our industry.  No product can be designed, developed, shipped, displayed, retailed, consumed without some form of packaging support.  It is our aim therefore at The Packaging Society to support and advise all our members involved in any way with the Packaging Value Chain; from Raw Materials through to retailers and Consumers to continue delivering those product innovations.

Being a part of the Packaging Society presents a great number of professional and personal opportunities.  We hold regular Local Society meetings, visits to factories, technology providers and innovators and do not forget our attendance at the regular UK Packaging Innovations Shows – the next one 13 & 14 September 2017 in London, with our ever popular Packaging Clinic.

Alternatively join for some cordial socialising and networking; the Fellow's Lunch in May, the Annual Thames River Cruise in July, the Packaging Charity Dinner to name a few.  All fantastic events and great in providing networking opportunities.

For the competitive amongst you there is also the Starpack Awards and the prospect of going all the way to a World Star Award.

We are a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful group with fantastic industry and technology links, to leverage that great resource and the opportunities within so please recommend membership to your colleagues and peers.  After all, don’t you want to be part of “The Packaging Society – Home of Packaging Professionals”.

Chris Waterhouse, Chairman
