Vishal Shah
I currently work for Ernst & Young LLP – within their Financial Services. We advise a number of clients within the finance sector on technical accounting as well as assist them in issues relating to financial remediation.
Prior to joining Ernst & Young, I worked for National Grid plc, within the Treasury Financial Control where I managed the analysis and disclosure of P&L arising from certain treasury activities. Before this transition to finance and following my graduation, I joined BAE Systems plc as a project leader. I delivered large and complex engineering projects – from concept to inception, leading multicompany-multidisciplinary teams. En-route, I have developed strong expertise in project & product life cycle management, stakeholder and risk management amongst other business leadership skills.
I completed my Masters in Materials & Mechanical Engineering in 2002, achieving 1st Class Honors degree. Subsequently, I completed the necessary work experience to register as a Chartered Engineer in 2006. I then started studying for finance with CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). I am currently in the final stages of this qualification. My desire to 'pass on' some of what I have experienced to the younger generation to speed up the learning process is the ultimate drive for me being sitting on the YMC board. Additionally, I also mentor students from a number of Universities in helping them plan their career.
On a personal front, I am married to Shimoli and we have a 4 year old son, Purav. In my spare time, I am a keen golfer. I do like other sports namely football and motorsports, as a spectator ofcourse!
