Watt are You Saving?

The Materials Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), with support from industry, RTOs, trade associations and the trade press, has launched an energy reduction competition – ‘Watt’ are You Saving? – for the UK plastics and rubber industries. The aim of the competition is to recognise the best use of technology, innovation and environmental impact in energy reduction taking place in the UK plastics and rubber industries and to showcase the best practice of the competition winning companies to Government, decision and policy makers, funders, their supply chain and customers and the general public.

There are prizes in five different categories plus an overall winner. The winners will be announced at the Materials KTN Annual Event to be held at The Royal Society, London on 18 May 2011. The deadline for entries is 11 February 2011.

It is hoped that, through this competition, the UK polymer industry can showcase the excellent innovations being applied to address the challenges of higher energy costs, energy availability and carbon reduction and are innovating in this area with a view to reducing their energy consumption.

The entrants into this competition will, through the Materials KTN, partner organisations and the media partners for this competition, be able to showcase their achievements to Government, decision and policy makers, funders, their supply chain and customers and the general public.

Together we can help the UK polymer industry to compete and succeed in an increasingly competitive global market.

Watt are you saving

Supply chain costs, carbon emissions and energy consumption can be reduced significantly by opting to use a shared freight network rather than dedicated transport for supplies or distribution.  Interested?  Email rob.smith@rainbownightfreight.com with the subject "Watt are you saving" for more details?
