Training support in packaging

Professional skills development for individuals working in the packaging sector is on offer from UK training company Accipio, launched by investment firm ZootAlore! Group.

Accipio has worked with the Packaging Industry Awarding Body Company (PIABC – managed by IOM3) to create NVQ level 2 training for packaging operators, which will include lessons in lean processing. Qualifications in warehousing and logistics are also available, as well as short courses in health and safety, first aid and food safety.

Adrian Oldfield, Chief Executive of Student Resources, a division of ZootAlore!, says that several colleges have agreed to offer the courses, and adds that his group can help find a training provider and obtain funding to support the costs.

‘Considering the current economic climate, there has never been a better time to get training,’ he notes. ‘The Government has committed to spending on Train to Gain for the next three years, so there is a lot of support [available] for companies.’
