Prizes available for published work

Acta, a non-profit organisation of which IOM3 is a cooperating society, has recently established a new award, the Acta Student Award. Five prizes of $2,000 are available to candidates whose work has been published in an Acta journal (Acta Materialia, Scripta Materialia or Acta Biomaterialia) during 2006.

In order to qualify, candidates must have been graduate students when their work was undertaken. The 2007 Student Award covers articles published from January to December 2006 and a committee comprising four editors and the coordinating editor will judge nominations.

Candidates must submit their application supported by their research advisor or a senior member of their faculty, along with a covering letter, CV, two additional supporting letters and a copy of their published work. Submissions must be received by 30 March 2007 and should be sent to Professor Subhash Mahajan, Coordinating Editor – Acta Journals, Director of School of Materials, 1711 Rural Road, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ 85287-8706, USA.
