Dr Scott Drawer, UK Sport and Dr Peter Bonfield, BRE, will present the plenary lectures at the IOM3 Materials Congress 2012 - Innovation and Enterprise for Sporting Performance and Infrastructure, 25-26 June 2012, London, UK.

The 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics will be remembered as the Games that brought materials science to new levels of innovation and enterprise.

There are two distinct but complementary foundations of this claim, and they form the twin themes of the 2012 Materials Congress - the role of materials technology in sporting performance and its contribution to sustainability, manifest in the legacy assets of London 2012 as well as the remarkable project that has built the infrastructure.

The two themes will run in parallel sessions through the two days of Congress, and will be brought together through plenary lectures and a technology exhibition.   Complimentary programmes on Medal Metals - Gold, Silver and Copper from cradle to grave, and Phase Diagrams and Sustainablity are also planned for the Congress.
