Increased prize money for 2010 Literature Review competition

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the UK Centre for Materials Education is sponsoring the 2010 Materials Literature Review Prize and Masterclass, in conjunction with IOM3. This year, the prize money has been increased to £1,000.

The competition encourages postgraduates to write definitive, critical reviews of literature as an essential part of study for a higher degree, and makes the best of these available to a wider readership. The deadline for entries is 9 October.

Up to six finalists, chosen on the basis of their abstracts, will produce full reviews by 14 December. Finalists may be invited to a masterclass where they will make a presentation to judges and receive feedback on their drafts. The winning entry will be announced by the end of June 2010 and will, at the discretion of the judges, be published in an Institute journal. Commended entries will be awarded an honorarium of £100.
