Can you host an engineering intern?

The Social Mobility Foundation works with high-achieving sixth formers from low income backgrounds. It is recruiting employers who can offer a summer internship.

Many of the students selected for this Aspiring Professional Programme (APP) have parents who did not go to university, and over 80% are from ethnic minorities. As well as organising internships, the APP offers mentoring and workshops to develop soft skills, improve students' university applications and help them make the most of their time at university.

The Foundation works across 10 professions and has 38 young people interested in careers in engineering. Internships of one to three weeks will take place in July and August, and while the content is at the employer's discretion, students must be able to gain an insight into their chosen professions. Over 80% of the employers involved last year said the student(s) were of the calibre they would employ after university.
