Bio Composites Funded Study Tour to Belgium

Technology Networks is an ERDF funded project that offers places on study tours and placements to European centres of excellence to share good practice, develop collaborations and receive vital guidance on research and development. Places are available to academics and SMEs from the West Midlands.

This study tour will focus on R&D capabilities around the city of Ghent in the Flemish region of Belgium. The tour will visit various businesses, research institutions and science parks to share good practice and develop collaborative links. The tour will also provide vital guidance and contacts for those wishing to engage with the Belgium bio composites industry.

Study Tour Agenda:

Date: Monday 27 February to Thursday 1 March 2012 
Location: Ghent (Belgium) 
Sector: Advanced Materials- Bio composites
Provisional agenda (to be confirmed) - visits to include:

  • University of Gent Polymer Chemistry and Biomaterials Group (UGent PBM)
  • University College Gent Centre for Polymer and Material Technologies
  • Centexbel-Belgium Textile Research Centre
  • Roltex- Producer of trays using biomaterials as bioresins
  • Neofibra NV-extruder of Wood Plastic Compounds

Travel Package:

Delegate costs of up to £500 per person will be covered by the Technology Networks project. The project will book your flight and accommodation for the visit and will cover daily living costs within the £500 budget. Delegates will be accompanied by project staff during the visit.

To apply for a place on this study tour please contact Nicole Barraclough on the details below. Travel and accommodation will be arranged by the Technology Networks team. During the tour you will be expected to complete a diary log and on your return a case study and testimonial on your best practice experience may be required.
