Award of the de Bruyne Medal
John Antony Bishopp FIMMM, formerly of Hexcel Composites (Duxford), and currently managing director of the adhesives and adhesion consultancy, Star Adhesion Ltd, was the sixth recipient of the de Bruyne Medal which was presented to him at the Society for Adhesives and Adhesion’s International conference, ‘Adhesion 11’, held in York from 7-9 September 2011. This prestigious medal is presented in acknowledgement of the recipient’s personal contribution to innovation in the field of adhesives.
The medal was presented by Dr Michael J Elwell FIMMM, Global Research Director for the sponsors, Huntsman Advanced Materials (Switzerland). The presentation was followed by a lecture given by Mr Bishopp and entitled ‘Norman de Bruyne FREng, FRS: the father of structural bonding?'.
