From 3 to 5 September 2008, the Society for Adhesion and Adhesives in the UK, the Section Française de l'Adhésion of the Société Française du Vide in France, DECHEMA in Germany and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the UK welcomed nearly 150 delegates to St Catherine’s College in Oxford for Euradh 2008.
The Poster session at Euradh 2008 covered all aspects of the field of Adhesion and Adhesives. The judges commented that the standard of both the work and the presentations was very high and eventually awarded the Student Poster Prize to a team from Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany.
Barrie James Hayes, formerly of the Bonded Structures Division of Ciba and Ciba Speciality Chemicals, both of Duxford, Cambridgeshire in the UK, is the 2008 recipient of the de Bruyne medal.
The UK's Clear Packaging Ltd has been bought by Stager, a Swiss thermoforming expert. The acquisition aims to bring together Clear's recycled PET technology with Stager's thermoforming tools for unusually-shaped packaging.
