Solar panels: share your views

25 Jul 2013

When it comes to solar, scarcity is not a problem.

But unlike the rapidly depleting supplies of fossil fuels, energy from the sun is difficult to capture and even harder to store. That said, solar panel technology is rapidly improving with developments in the field frequently announced. Thanks to progress in the science of nanotechnology and the use of graphene and gold nanoparticles, researchers are reporting major improvements in the efficiency of solar power. But has it improved enough to become a viable alternative source of energy? Or has the technology still got some way to go?

Materials World is looking for experts to share their views on solar power for an article in the September issue. If you’d like to take part email Rachel Lawler for more information.
