Tony Francis takes over as Chair of Division Board

At the meeting of the Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy Division Board on 26 May 2011, Professor John Monhemius handed over the chairmanship to his successor, Tony Francis.  Tony has over 30 years experience working in the Minerals Processing & Extractive Metallurgy industry.  Presently he is Senior Metallurgist, a corporate level position, with European Goldfields Limited, who have mines and advanced projects located in South East Europe.  Tony is engaged in all of the company's process related activities, spanning project initiation to plant design and construction.  Prior to joining European Goldfields he was an independent metallurgical consultant.    He gained extensive operational experience in the copper mines of Zambia where he was Concentrator Superintendent at the Nchanga Mine complex.  His activities include research & development, managing test work programmes, minerals processing plant senior management, plant engineering design, project management and consulting.  He has worked in base and precious metal process plants and projects throughout the world.  Prior to taking up the Chair of the Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy Board, he served as a member of the Board since its first meeting in October 2005.
