Live online symposium - "Science Advice in a Crisis: Fukushima and its Aftermath"

Sir John Beddington, the Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK government and Prime Minister, is to speak at a symposium in Tokyo on Monday 30 May to discuss the provision of science advice in emergencies to politicians and the public.

The symposium will focus on the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan, the role played by Sir John and others in assessing and communicating the risks, and implications of the crisis for the future.

The seminar will start at 14:30 Japan time on Monday 30 May (06:30 UK time) and will be webcast in both English and Japanese. The English language webcast will be at www.ustream.tv/channel/bescience2
