Dr Graham Honeyman CEng FIMMM has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honour's list. Announced earlier this month, Honeymoon, Chief Executive of Sheffield Forgemasters International, received the accolade for his contribution to the heavy steelmaking and engineering industry in Sheffield, UK.
Honeyman took over Sheffield Forgemasters in 2002 when it was making a loss, but within less than three years he had made the business profitable, and even increased revenue from £35m to £100m. He said, ‘I am absolutely delighted to receive this honour. It…reflects not just on my efforts but the contribution of all who form the excellent…team in the company’.
In September 2005, Honeyman led a successful management buyout. His commitment to the workforce ensured all 600 employees kept their jobs, and ensured the scheme receive full backing from Government and trade unions.
Honours are conferred twice a year, at the Queen’s official birthday in June and at New Year. They pay tribute to outstanding achievement and service across the entire community.
