The 2008 Finniston Lecture, ‘Ceramic Membranes for Clean Energy Conversion – Engineering with Eggshells’, will be presented by Professor John Kilner on 22 October at the British Academy in London. Kilner holds the BCH Steele Chair in Energy Materials at Imperial College London, UK. The 2008 Lecture is the 10th in the series, and this year it will coincide with the Institute's Special Awards Dinner.

The biennial Finniston Lectures were founded in 1992 in memory of Sir Monty Finniston, and typically cover innovation in engineering, though the subject matter can be drawn from any area of scientific research. Finniston was a British industrialist and chairman of British Steel. He helped produce the Finniston Report, a Government initiative to evaluate the British engineering industry.

Attendance at the event is free of charge and open to all, however as space is limited tickets must be reserved in advance by contacting Rachel Brooks, tel: 01476 514594.
