The Premier Awards Dinner for recipients of the Institute's 2007 Medals and Prizes was held in early July at the Institute's London headquarters. Despite the overcast and chilly evening, the event began with a warm and friendly champagne reception, with entertainment provided by the Jon Spanyol Jazz Quartet from the Royal College of Music.

The Silver Medal for younger members went to Dr Matthew Hall of the University of Nottingham for his promotion of sustainable construction materials. He acts as a referee for the international journal Construction and Building Materials, published by Elsevier. Hall established a Masters course in ‘Energy Conversion and Management' of which he is the Course Director.

The majority of the Institute's premier awards were presented at the dinner, as well as the Vanadium, Charles Hatchett, and Composite awards, along with the Harvey Flower Titanium Prize. The remaining honours will be presented throughout the year. For full details of all the 2007 award winners, visit www.iom3.org/awards/2007awardwinners.htm.

Nominations for the 2008 medals and prizes will be invited in September 2007. For further information, e-mail: rachel.brooks@iom3.org.
