Professor, Manufacturing Technology and Research Director, AFRC

Our large, internationally rated Engineering Faculty has a proud history of successful joint ventures with industrial and enterprise partners. As part of our strategic development, the Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) is currently being built near Glasgow’s International Airport. The AFRC is the embodiment of a £20 million collaborative investment by industrial, academic and Government partners seeking to establish a world leading research facility for forging and forming technologies. You will be a researcher and an educator of international standing – which will be demonstrated by extensive experience of research and publication in Manufacturing Technology, including net shape processes and the adaptation of that research to industrial production processes. As Research Director, you will lead the AFRC’s quest to become a world leader in forming and forging research and, as University Professor, you will provide leadership in Manufacturing Technology research, education and knowledge exchange. Interest in this post from suitably qualified individuals with an industrial or academic background not currently working in the UK Higher Education sector would be very welcome. Strathclyde is one of the largest providers of continuing professional development in the UK - 34,000 people take part in our CPD programmes.

Mature students make up 20% of our intake each year.In the most recent teaching quality assessments, the University scored a 92% rating at either 'excellent' or 'highly satisfactory' - ahead of all other universities in Scotland.

The University has five faculties - Arts & Social Sciences, Education, Engineering, Science and Strathclyde Business School.We have two campuses - one in the city centre and one in the west end of Glasgow.
