About the Technical Manager position
As the Technical Manager, you will manage a small team of process engineers and quality technicians to deliver a varied range of plant, process, product and quality improvement projects. You will play a key part in formulating the technical strategy in conjunction with operations, sales, customers and the wider group. Detailed responsibilities include: -
Shaping the Company’s strategy to maintain technical leadership and deliver safe and efficient growth through improved process performance and product quality.
Investigating processes with a view to maximising process yield and throughput, minimising losses, reducing costs and improving product quality.
Supporting the operations team with investigations into plant and process deficiencies and providing solutions as part of a team effort.
Identifying and implementing new technological developments to improve plant performance.
Initiating and managing external research projects to develop new products, enhance understanding of existing products and promote products to customers.
Responding to customer concerns and queries to resolve quality problems and drive continual improvement and maximum customer satisfaction.
Supporting the sales department by providing technical input for industry conferences.
About you and what you will need to be a successful Technical Manager
Should be educated to degree level within an engineering or scientific discipline.
Must have a proven track record of technical management within a complex manufacturing environment.
Excellent people and project management skills are required.
A background in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and quality management is essential.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience in a metals based environment with knowledge of TS16949 or AS9100.
In return the technical manager will receive a salary of £47,500 – £55,000 dependant on experience, a bonus of up to 11%, 7% pension contribution, 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) and a relocation package if appropriate.
