Waste Recovery in Iron and Steelmaking Processes

13 Dec 2010 - 14 Dec 2010, The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, London, UK

Organised by IOM Communications Ltd on behalf of the Iron and Steel Society

It is recognised that waste reduction, recovery and utilisation is becoming more important to ensure that the world’s resources are used in a increasingly sustainable manner.

Whilst the global iron and steel industry has done much to both reduce waste production, increase the levels of waste utilised and thus significantly reduced the quantities of waste that is disposed, there is undoubtedly room for further improvement.

The overall objective of the conference is to stimulate interest and dialogue in the various ways and means that these wastes can be processed and their levels of utilisation increased.

The programme, featuring keynote presentations from Paul Brooks (Environmental Director, Tata Steel), Zou Kuan (Director of the Department of Protection and Resources Utilisation, Baosteel), Jean-Pierre Birat (Head of Sustainabilit, Arcelor Mittal) and Heribert Motz (Chairman, Euroslag), was announced in September 2010.

The full programme covers waste strategy and thermal processes, further processing and practical solutions, alternative approaches and research into the environmental issues, slag utilisation and marketing.

The fee to attend both days is £250.00 plus VAT for IOM3 members and £340.00 plus VAT for non-members.  Concessions are available for students and delegates currently not in employment.

This event will be invaluable to anyone who generates, optimises or uses the by-products of the ironmaking and steelmaking process.
