Surface Coal: Planning Issues At Minorca, Leicestershire

06 Feb 2012, The William Smith Building (Earth Science), Keele, UK

Western Institute of Mining and Minerals Evening Lecture

Mr David Bridgewood - Wardell Armstrong

The recent successful planning application undertaken by Wardell Armstrong to extract coal at Minorca, Leicestershire on behalf of UK Coal was a complex one, particularly in terms of ecology and groundwater, due to the presence of the Gilwiskaw Brook (a Special Area of Conservation) which runs through the middle of the site.  The presentation will outline the approach that Wardell Armstrong took to managing the application process and the lessons which can be drawn for other, hopefully less complex, planning applications.

Programme

The lecture will start at 7:00pm
