Steel Strategy Seminar - Environment

01 May 2012, Advanced Manufacturing Park, Rotherham, UK

Organised by IOM Communications Ltd on behalf of the Iron and Steel Society, a division of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Following the steel strategy workshop in October 2011 we are pleased to announce the second workshop in the series focusing on the environmental challenges.

There is a need to inform current and future steel industry managers of the environmental challenges facing the steel industry in the next 5 to 10 years. Addressing these challenges appropriately will help to ensure the viability of the industry both from a risk management viewpoint but also from a business opportunity perspective.

A ‘license to operate’ will be an increasingly valued business asset, as will the benefits of achieving good citizenship in the way we operate. A further benefit will be from recognising that our customers and markets are also working to improve their contribution towards sustainable development. We must provide products and services which help meet those needs.

The workshop takes place on 1 May 2012 at the Advanced Manufacturing Park, Waverley, Rotherham.

The sessions included in the workshop are:

•    The global environmental challenges and the steel industry context,
•    Improvements though better operations, strategy and planning
•    The business case for resource efficiency  and climate change management
•    Sustainability in the markets and the supply chain

To keep costs to a minimum there will be no printed proceedings but the presentations will be made available to participants via the IOM3 website.

The cost will be £100 plus VAT for each seminar.
