SWWPG Summer Event

05 Jun 2010, St Fagans, Cardiff, UK

The SWWPG is organising a visit and picnic at St. Fagans, the National History Museum of Wales, near Cardiff. We need to get an idea of numbers of adults and children attending so that the picnic can be arranged in advance, hence the early notice.

St. Fagans, National History Museum of Wales, is one of Europe’s foremost open air museums representing the life and culture of Wales and situated in 100 acres of parkland. There are numerous historic cottages and other buildings to explore, relocated from all over Wales, together with an extensive indoor area of exhibits. The museum has many demonstrating crafts people, and their work is on sale in the shops and workshops. Disabled access to most of the site is fairly easy with signed routes, although it is a large site and even the able bodied need at least two hours to get around everything.

Entry to the Museum is free (yes free!), but there is a car parking charge of £3 per day. We would like to have a group picnic, and can arrange for SWWPG subsidised lunch boxes to be provided and picked up from the restaurant on arrival. These will cost £5 each for adults, and are free for children. We can then either meet to eat together (there is a dedicated picnic area), or go our own way around the site.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to have a guided tour.

WE DO NEED YOUR REQUIREMENTS AND PAYMENT FOR THE LUNCHBOXES BY SATURDAY 8 MAY AT THE LATEST PLEASE, SO THEY MAY BE ORDERED IN TIME.

Date and Venue:

Saturday 5 June 2010, starting at 10am (when museum opens), meeting at the museum self-service restaurant to pick up picnic boxes. The museum does not close until 5pm, so you can spend as much time as you wish looking at the exhibits.
