Smart and Sustainable Packaging - The Materials Challenge

20 Sep 2010, IOM3, Boilerhouse, Grantham, UK

In association with The Packaging Society and in line with the current FP7 call, The Materials KTN is organising an event focused on the challenge to materials researchers to produce sustainable and bio-derived products that can provide the functionality in packaging required by high value goods and food products using developing printing technologies and materials that are inherently sustainable or can be recycled or reused.

This free to attend follow up event will concentrate on the materials aspects of the current Framework funding calls and in particular:

  • Smart and multifunctional packaging concepts utilizing nanotechnology [NMP.2011.1.1-1]
  • Advanced packaging materials from renewable biogenic resources [NMP.2011.2.3-1]
  • Eco-design for new products [NMP.2011.3.1-1]
  • Advanced and flexible technologies for active, intelligent and sustainable food packaging [KBBE.2011.2.3-03]

We would welcome those who attend the first event who would like to further explore potential collaborations to advance materials science, technology, engineering or design projects with a view to putting together project proposals for the FP7 call, to enable this, the event will allow delegates to participate in facilitated business to business meetings.
