Managing Out of the Recession

16 Mar 2010, Broughton Hall, Liverpool, UK

MERSEYSIDE PACKAGING SOCIETY / CHARTERED MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE –  JOINT EVENT

Workshop: “Managing Out of the Recession”

Time: 18:30 for 19:00 start. Target finish time is 21:00

Light refreshments will be provided.

Overview: The UK economy is in serious difficulties, with Government spending and debt at exceptionally high levels, and reduced tax revenues. However, there are signs that the UK is finally turning the corner: there has been some growth in the economy, albeit small, and manufacturing activity is starting to pick up. Against this backdrop, and however optimistic or otherwise our view of the future might be, we all have to be prepared for whatever business conditions will throw at us. Are we on the cusp of real and sustainable recovery or just facing the prospect of a double-dip in the economy? In this workshop, you will pick up some tips on how to get your business in better shape and be in greater control of your destiny. It will be led by Ian Ross, who operates as an interim manager and has successfully turned round businesses. This experience has given him an excellent insight into what successful businesses do to survive challenging times. He knows how to spot the business “icebergs” and will share his ideas on how to avoid them. So, whether your business is in fine shape, stressed or distressed, or you just want to network with like-minded professionals, come to this interactive workshop and be prepared for an enjoyable and stimulating evening.   Ian Ross - Profile: Ian started his working life as a mathematician and later became a chartered management accountant. In his early career he worked for Rolls-Royce and Fisons and held senior financial positions in Philips Electronics, Whitecroft plc and Worthington Manufacturing Ltd.Since 2000 Ian has worked as an interim manager with a wide variety of large and small businesses in manufacturing, distribution, services and not-for-profit sectors, where he has stabilised several businesses, achieved turnarounds and supplied management information that has dramatically improved company performance. Ian builds and empowers teams to achieve remarkable results.
