Health and safety in the UK

21 Feb 2012, Potters room at the Potters Club, Stoke on Trent, UK

The Institute provides training for its members through a series of seminars that can be used to guide students through Certificate courses up to degree level.

We have one such seminar planned for February 2012 which is covering the topic of Health and Safety, with papers from Dr Phil Smith and Francis Morral.

You are invited to the meeting where you will be able to network with our members from the Ceramic Industry and associated supporting industries.

The title for Francis’ presentation is:

Health and Safety in the UK: How we ended up where we are

The history of health and safety in the UK during the second half of the 20th century saw a complete change in philosophy and this allied to interventions from mainland Europe have played their part in making for a highly complex landscape.

and Phil’s:

Health and safety in the UK: What the future holds

Changes at the top of the Health and Safety Executive allied to the current economic circumstances and a change in attitude towards health and safety by the coalition government will combine to set the agenda for the foreseeable future.
