Organised by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining

2009 is the International Year of Natural Fibres. In the UK, this International Conference will celebrate and highlight the increasing use of natural fibres, to raise awareness of their diverse properties, and stimulate an increased demand. This two day event will offer an opportunity for natural fibre industries to come together to foster international partnership and increased understanding of the role that natural materials can and must play in ensuring a sustainable future.

If you would like to play a part in this event, then this is how you can become involved:

  • Submit your details to be added to the Register of Natural Fibres Stakeholders (see form at the bottom of this page). This is being compiled by the IOM3 in order to facilitate contact between users, producers, researchers, educators and policy makers in the natural fibres industries.
  • Submit a poster. The deadline for abstracts for oral presentations has now passed, but poster abstracts are still being accepted. See guidelines below.
  • Support the conference by co-sponsoring or exhibiting at the event.Contact us for more details.
  • Register to receive further details of the conference. This will keep you in touch with the addition of new keynote speakers, and inform you of the full conference programme when it becomes available
  • Submit samples of material to the conference exhibition. This exhibition will accompany the two day conference and be kept for future reference by designers and materials specifiers in the Materials Resource Library, which is held at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining’s premises at 1 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5DB.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for further details of how you can become involved. Contact Dawn Bonfield.
