Failures and Hazards Affecting Natural Slopes and Excavations – Case Studies

The presentation covers a number of case studies which demonstrate some of the particular hazards and challenges presented by geological strata and geo hazards to the stability of natural and excavated slopes. Geological strata, varying from weak interbedded sandstones / mudstones through to strong or very strong metamorphic and igneous strata are included.  Examples are drawn from a variety of projects including natural slopes, civil engineering and mining.

Programme

The lecture will be presented by Mr Ian Nettleton (Coffey Geptechnics UK Ltd). The lecture will start at 7:00pm.
