Abstract:

Rubber is a truly wonderful material. Modern day life would almost impossible without it. From keeping our cars on the road, to protecting us from infection, or from isolating buildings from earthquakes to the elastic that holds up our pants, we are surrounded by rubber goods. The talk will explore methods have been used to model the behaviour of rubber in the past and advances that might lead to finding new engineering applications for rubber materials in the future.
