CASC Summer School on Ceramics

The Centre for Advanced Structural Ceramics (CASC) will be organising its first ceramics summer school at Imperial College London from 14 to 16 September 2010. The school will provide tutorials focussing on current developments in ceramic synthesis, processing and mechanical characterisation with particular emphasis on the practical aspects and hands-on experience. These tutorials will be aimed at early career engineers and researchers – working in universities or industry – who wish to enhance their ceramics background. Topics to be covered are: vapour and chemical powder synthesis, colloidal processing and electrophoretic deposition, nanoindentation and mechanical testing at micro and macro scales.

Presenters will include:

·         Prof. Aldo Boccaccini (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany)

·         Prof. Jerome Chevalier (INSA, Lyon, France)

·         Prof. Manish Chhowalla (CASC, Imperial College London)

·         Dr Jaime Franco (Keramat, Spain)

·         Dr Finn Giuliani (CASC, Imperial College London)

·         Prof. Mike Reece (Queen Mary, University of London)

·         Prof. Eduardo Saiz (CASC, Imperial College London)

The registration fee of £200 will cover two nights’ accommodation and meals during the three days of the course.
