Advances in Protective Clothing

25 Apr 2012, QinetiQ, Farnborough, UK

Organised by IOM Communications Ltd on behalf of the the Defence, Safety and Security Committee of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining

Being a comparatively frail thing, the human body requires protection against a wide spectrum of threats in an ever-increasing range of challenging activities and environments. From the earliest days, the human race has developed forms of protective clothing to counter these threats and so enable survival, increased comfort, improved performance or increased endurance.

In recent conferences we have focussed on Advances in Body Armour and Helmets. In this conference we will consider Advances in Protective Clothing through the latest innovations in materials science and design across different sectors encompassing defence, the emergency services, agriculture, sports, building, chemical, biological and nuclear material handling and industrial processes to encourage cross fertilisation of ideas for future improvements in Protective Clothing.
