The Sustainable Integrated Manufacturing Committee
concentrates its activities on the technological, economic and management
aspects of the interaction between materials and the processes used to
manufacture products throughout the supply chain. It is a response to the need
to develop an integrated, or systems, approach to manufacturing technologies as
a result of the increased demands on suppliers to adopt new materials and
process technologies, particularly from the aerospace and automotive
sectors.
The Sustainable Integrated Manufacturing Committee is specifically
concerned with the integration of and interaction between the stages in the
whole product life-cycle including sustainability and environmental
issues.
Examples of such stages could
include:
- Materials
Selection
- Product and Process
Modelling
- Product and Process Data
Technology
- Prototyping and Rapid
Manufacturing
- Manufacturing
Processes
- Supply Chain
Management
- Recycling and Waste
Minimisation
The objectives of the Committee
are to:
- Develop strong links with
relevant professional and trade associations
- Develop strong links with
national, European and international projects
- Advise the Institute on
developments within the scope of the Committee
- Disseminate information
about new developments
- Identify opportunities for
continuing education and training and recommend action
- Interact closely with other
relevant committees and operations of the Institute in furtherance of the above
objectives
Membership of the Committee is
primarily from Institute members experiences in the manufacturing and user
industries, as well as experts from research organisations and universities. It
aims to have a strong emphasis on industrial and other user needs.
We welcome enquiries from
