Welcome to the Casting Division WebsiteAs one of the Technical Divisions of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, we exist to support the casting Industry by providing a focus for the exchange of knowledge on all aspects of casting education, science, research and manufacture. The Casting Division supports the activities and technical competencies of a wide academic, manufacturing and user industry. The role of the Casting Division is to link with the resources of other smaller societies, in some cased the technical committees of Trade Associations, together with the knowledge base of industry and academia to develop a wider and more complete understanding of casting capability. Our objectives include the following: |

| To establish the Institute as an important voice within the
broad casting community To encourage research and development, in particular of novel manufacturing techniques, process modelling and improvements and to transfer results to industry. To provide value and support to individual members of the Institute with a particular interest in casting. To examine new issues within the Casting Industry, with particular emphasis of environmental controls. To promote education and training, particularly the provision of professional development material for all foundry specialists. To foster the interests of younger members involved in the casting industry. To collaborate with the other Technical Divisions, national and International organisations and regional sections on areas of mutual interest. |
