Braille scriptThe ceremony to announce the winners of the WorldStar Awards 2010 was held on 17 May 2011, during Interpack, in Düsseldorf (Germany). The 2010 edition of WorldStar, the most important packaging award in the world, organised by WPO (World Packaging Organization), brought in 278 entries from 30 countries from around the world.
The event gathered more than 400 people and was sponsored by PackExpo Las Vegas, organized by PMMI and scheduled for 26-28 September 2011. During the ceremony, Charles Yuska, CEO of PMMI, conducted a draw among the attendees for a trip for two to PackExpo Las Vegas; the winner was Andrew Kilkenny from Clorox Company, USA.
During the ceremony, besides the winners in all the seven categories - Beverage, Electronic, Food, Health & Beauty, Household, Pharmaceutical & Medical and Other. WPO President, Keith Pearson, from IPSA (South Africa) personally selected the President's Award winners. They were:
- Gold - Tubapack (Slovakia) and Colognia Press (Czech Republic)
- Silver - DS Smith (UK)
- Bronze - Crown Bevcan (France)
In the Sustainability Award category the winners were:
- Gold - Kirin Beverage (Japan) and DS Smith (UK)
- Silver - Greenpac (Singapore)
- Bronze - Fosfa akciova spolescnot (Czech Republic)
It is worth remembering that all packages become eligible for WorldStar judging by winning a national or multi-national packaging award.
At a recent meeting of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) in Sri Lanka, the WPO agreed to award the contract for running the prestigious WorldStar competition for at least the next three years to the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) based in the UK.

WorldStar Awards 2009The World Packaging Organisation is a not for profit, non-governmental, international federation of national packaging institutes, regional packaging federations and other interested parties including individuals, corporations and trade associations.
Now in its 42nd year, the pre-eminent international award in packaging, WorldStar, illustrates the continual advancement of the state of our packaging art and creates a living standard of international packaging excellence from which others may learn.
WorldStars are presented only to those packages which, having already won recognition in a regional or national competition, are compared by an expert panel of judges to similar packages from around the world.
The 2011 WorldStar Awards are now closed.

WorldStar Student Awards
The WorldStar Student Awards are run by the World Packaging Organisation. This is a not for profit, non-governmental, international federation of national packaging institutes, regional packaging federations and other interested parties including individuals, corporations and trade associations.
