Welcome to the new IOM3 website

29 Jun 2008, 19:06nuna.staniaszek

Welcome to the new IOM3 website. The site has been developed with the aim of making it easier to navigate, and to find information relevant to members' and visitors' interests. If you haven't already done so, visit the new Technical Community microsites (via the link top right) and see how content has been gathered together on these sites to bring together all news, events and features relevant to each community.

Further new services and facilities will be added to the site in the next few months, including a member directory, the ability to sign up for customised content alerts, job alerts and more member-only content.

We would value your feedback on the site and any suggestions you may have for further improvements.

If you do come across any errors, please report these to Website Errors via our online enquiry form

We hope you enjoy browsing the new site and look forward to receiving your feedback!

Nuna Staniaszek

Head of Communications, IOM3

Technical Communications

What an excellent way of seeing at a glance the vast array of subjects covered by the Institute's Technical Committees and more important, names to contact to discuss or share a problem. Clearly an immense effort which members can now readily draw on.

Nice new forum

What we need now are some members using it ! ! ! Perhaps a members list or even an area focused members list ?

Many thanks...

Many thanks for your positive comments. Peter, a new 'member network' facility is being constructed as we speak which will provide this function - it will live under www.iom3.org/content/member-network so watch this space! Richard Cooper (Web Content Manager)

General

At the foot of the various comments and contributions it says ,in bright red letters,"flag as offensive". Just what on earth does this mean ?? Anyway, the web site looks great.Just thought I'd add another "offensive" comment !!! Come on Richard fix this !!

Flagging comments as offensive

Hi Mr Smith, I'm very pleased you are enjoying the site. The 'flag as offensive' facility is a standard feature of online discussion forums, enabling any authenticated user to report a comment on the forums (or individual articles) which they find offensive. Users are able to give a reason why they found the comment offensive, e.g. bad language or other unacceptable content. Any comment flagged as such is immediately removed from the page it was on and sent to the site administrators (e.g. myself) for moderation. Admins can then delete the comment or edit and re-publish it. Of course I doubt we will ever need to use this facility on the IOM3 site! Kind regards, Richard
