Tim Lynch - Packaging Artwork Manager, Britvic Soft Drinks Limited

Chair of the Student Judging Panel

On leaving Sir John Cass School of Art, Tim started his career firstly in printing,  then in design at a studio in St.Albans, before moving on to pharmaceutical packaging developments. Tim worked for seven years as a Director of an agency managing  McDonald's packaging development, design, and QA across Europe and the Middle East, which was followed by a period with Cadbury's in the US working on beverage and confectionery packaging. For the last six years, Tim has been working for Britvic  developing solutions for soft drinks brands including Pepsi, Fruit Shoot and Tango

Tim has been on the judging panel for five years and attended the Student World Star judging in Beijing in 2010.

Janine BurrowsJanine Burrows

 

Janine Burrows - Arts Development Manager, Tigerprint 

After graduating from a textiles course Janine  went onto tutoring and freelance work before landing a role at Tigerprint where she was first introduced to Starpack through their  projects with colleges. Janine says "there are many benefits of the scheme for our business and future product development including recruitment and placement opportunities for students and graduates."

Janine is back on the judging panel after a break and she still remains amazed at the diversity and creativity of students and loves it when the judging panel come across an entry that  as the  "WOW" factor as it makes the long hours of judging fulfilling!

   

 

 John LambJohn Lamb  

John Lamb, Director, Tin Horse
‘John has worked for 25 years in structural design for brands, packaging and products.
After qualifying from Northumbria University with a Design for Industry degree John freelanced for several London design consultancies before joining Packaging Innovation (now PI3) and then Addison Design.
He co-founded Tin Horse in 1990 to be independent and free of 'Big Brother' company restraints. Able to service clients needs creatively and with integrity, John remains committed to delivering this goal and has worked globally with clients such as P&G, Colgate Palmolive, Unilever, ICI, and Kraft foods to name but a few.’

 Ian RooneyIan Rooney    Ian Rooney - Director - Packlab, Finland
 
Ian is the Co-founder and Director of the packaging and brand innovation consultancy Packlab. He leads the worlds first all packaging design educated team who's joined-up-thinking and holistic approaches are challenging the way people looking at product-packaging.
 
The partnership is based in Helsinki, Finland where it consults for businesses, associations and for government institutions. Packlab sits on the board of PTR the Association of Packaging Technology and Research in Finland and has an active role in bridging the knowledge gap between industry and academia.
 
Ian is the ex-Senior Lecturer at the Lahti Institute of Design, Packaging and Brand Design programme and a Visiting Lecturer at other leading European institutions and a frequent commentator on packaging innovation and brand design. He has contributed to books, journals, seminars and is regularly invited as a keynote speaker at industry conferences.
 
Ian's education includes undergraduate Graphic Communication studies at Isle School of Art and Design in the UK and Graphic Communication and Product Design and at Kuopio Academy of Design in Finland. He has also studied Packaging and Communication Design at graduate and postgraduate level at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK.
 
Ian has had experience working with some of the smallest to some of the largest organisations in the world, working in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. He has been honored and awarded on numerous occasions as an educator and as a design leader for his contribution to consumer goods development, brand communication, structural innovation, environmental optimisation and holistic product design.
