Student membership

Student membership is open to students following an approved course of study (at undergraduate or postgraduate level) leading to admission to one of the higher membership grades. Proof of study is needed from the university or college.

 

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE

Who is eligible?
This package is open to students (with the exclusion of postgraduates) in all stages of study in Higher Education, eg 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year students. To qualify for student membership you need only be undertaking a full or part-time course towards a Materials, Minerals and Mining related qualification (eg BTEC or degree).

 

What are the benefits?
For a one-off membership fee of £35 you will receive:

  • membership for the duration of your course and for 1 further year on completion of your studies 
  • free monthly Materials World magazine
  • access to Local Society meetings
  • reduced rates on conference fees and publications

representing a total saving of over £200.

 

POSTGRADUATE STUDENT MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE

Who is eligible?
This package is open to all postgraduate students - in all stages of study, eg 1st, 2nd or 3rd year students. To qualify for student membership you need only be undertaking a full or part-time postgraduate course towards a Materials, Minerals and Mining related qualification (eg MSc, MPhil, PhD, EngDoc).

 

What are the benefits?
For an annual membership fee of £25 you will receive:

  • free monthly Materials World magazine worth £35
  • reduced rates on conference fees and publications
  • reduced rates on soft skills seminars and younger members conference fees

representing an annual saving of over £50.
