Architectural Studio resources
The Architectural Studio Reference suite, provided by Tata Steel and hosted by the RIBA CPD Providers Network, provides online reference, guide and tutorial resources on the use of steel in buildings.
This provides a set of articles on every aspect of the use of steel in buildings. Best used in the detailed design phase, the articles provide the depth needed to fully understand these aspects.
This publication provides a simple overview of some of the basic constructional and structural concepts on which most buildings are founded, and also includes selected aspects of associated technologies such as cladding and fire protection. The pages in this site use Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) to create three dimensional models of the objects discussed in the text. Note: you will need to download a browser plugin for the 3D effects to work. This guide generally works better in Internet Explorer.
A series of 13 tests on topics including forces and moments, bending moments, basic beam design and lateral stability.
