Welcome to the South Wales Materials Association (SWMA)

Tata steel works in Port TalbotTata steel works in Port Talbot

The South Wales Materials Association was renamed from South Wales Metallurgical Association (formerly Swansea and District Metallurgical Society) in October 2005 to represent a move from purely metallurgical focus to a wider materials basis.

The SWMA covers an area from Cardiff to as far west as Aberystwyth. The majority of our events are held at Swansea University or ECM² in Port Talbot.

The SWMA organises a range of events such as educational evening lectures and trips to local engineering sites.  The highlight of the year is the anual dinner held in July which is an oppertunity for members of materials institutes and companies in South Wales to network, and have a good time.
