Keith Walker, ChairAs one of the technical communities of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining we exist to support the Iron and Steel Industry and related industries within the supply chain by providing a focus for the exchange of knowledge on all aspects of steel production, processing and applications.
The Iron & Steel Society's activities encompass all professional, technical and educational aspects of the Steel Industry and whole supply chain.
Our objectives include the following:
- To provide value and support to the Iron and Steel Industry
- To provide value and support to individual members of the Institute with a particular interest in Iron and Steel
- Promote education and training related to the Iron and Steel Industry by organising conferences and workshops
- Foster the interests of younger members involved in the Iron and Steel Industry
- Collaborate with the other technical divisions, regional sections and international organisations on areas of mutual interest
Scope & Mission
The Iron and Steel Society’s activities encompass all professional, technical and educational aspects of the steel industry and whole supply chain as well as other strategic considerations of steel. This is achieved by interaction with all parties related to the iron and steel industry
