Science exams - what would you do?

27 Mar 2009, 10:52katherine.williams

The UK schools minister, Jim Knight, has stated there is a 'serious problem' with the GCSE science exams. He was responding to a report from exams watchdog, Ofqual, which claimed that science GSCEs in England, particularly physics, have become 'too easy'. A particular concern appears to be the design of the question papers and the specific questions asked.

Do you agree and what do you think should be done?

Science Exams

I believe that the multiple choice questions leave little to the imagination! 4 choices then a possibility of being correct 25% of the time by sheer guesswork. Questions should be designed to make the examinee think and reason. Practical questions to practical problems. Lets see if the examinee can answer the question and not just respond as a parrot!
