Superplasticity Committee - mission

Our terms of reference include the following:

  1. To promote the creation of a community of practice in the support of UK Industry
  2. To provide information on the state-of-the-art on superplastic forming and related technologies
  3. To organise or participate in the organisation of conferences on SPF at the National, European and International levels
  4. To promote good and better practice in superplastic forming and related technologies
  5. To advise and promote reliable SPF standards as ISE/NFE/4/1/4 - a panel of ISE/NFE/4/1 (BSI committee on Mechanical testing of Metals)
  6. To encourage benchmarking activities in all aspects of the process including computer modelling
  7. To consider ways to encourage the uptake of superplastic forming technology by designers
  8. To create and maintain a Roadmap for superplastic forming and related technologies and to promote the same on our website
  9. Monitor SPF research and development worldwide
  10. Provide a snapshot of current applications
  11. Facilitate the provision of training materials with the use of hyperlinks to these resources on our website
  12. Organise courses to raise the awareness of SPF practice
  13. Facilitate the production of simple explanations of the superplastic forming process for dissemination
