http://www.uec.ac.uk/mined
Mining engineers are primarily responsible for the safe and economic
production of the earth’s minerals. This is a three year course
accredited by the Institution of Materials, Minerals and Mining
providing underpinning knowledge in engineering principles, geology,
rock mechanics, ventilation, environmental impacts, economics,
surveying, sustainable development and management.
BEng/MEng Mining and Mineral Engineering – University of Leeds
http://www.engineering.leeds.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sis/eng/ext/programme.cgi?cmd=details&level=ug&progcode=MEN-MINE%2FEN
Metals and minerals are essential to modern life, and their extraction
and processing form part of a huge, worldwide industry. The School of
Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering has widespread
activities in mining, quarrying, mineral processing, landfill
engineering, materials recycling and environmental monitoring, all of
which are reflected in this accredited Mining and Mineral Engineering
degree course. Students can specialise in mining engineering, quarrying
or mineral process engineering in year 3. We have close links with many
major mining companies, several of whom provide substantial
scholarships or vacation employment. Not surprisingly, career prospects
and salaries in the industry are excellent.
