John Forsdike
John is currently working for Rolls-Royce plc in Repair Technology, where his role is to develop strategic repair technologies and to support current repair capability acquisition programmes. He previously completed a PhD at Swansea University in the School of Engineering's Materials Research Centre and prior to that gained a first class honours degree in Materials Engineering followed by a Masters Research degree in Power Generation and Aerospace Technology, winning awards for best performance in both. His PhD research in ‘Novel Joining and Repair of Aerospace Materials’ was sponsored by Rolls-Royce plc, through the University Technology Partnership (UTP), a prestigious link between the Company and University to foster advanced materials research.
John is actively involved with the IOM3 and until recently was the Honorary Secretary of the South Wales Materials Association. In 2007 he won the Young Persons’ Lecture Competition and went on to represent the UK at the World lecture competition in Singapore. In his spare time he is an avid surfer, snowboarder, kiteboarder and drummer (although not all at the same time!).
