Fellow

Typical age 35

A prestigious grade for those with an established and enhanced reputation in materials, minerals and mining technology. Professional Members can apply for transfer to the grade of Fellow, but direct entry is possible as well. The assessment does not normally necessitate an interview.

Candidates who wish to apply for CEng FIMMM or CSci FIMMM should also follow the guide to Professional Membership.

Candidates who wish to apply for CEng FIMMM or CSci FIMMM without a formal degree background, who are operating at or near Board level, should refer to Guidelines to the Technical Report Route (Word doc 376KB, pdf file 548KB)

If you are applying for CEng or CSci alongside your application for Fellowship, the Guidelines for Professional Member (Word Doc 334k, pdf file 498k) must also be followed as the application processes are common.

HOW TO APPLY
All forms which you need to submit to apply for Fellowship, together with supporting and explanatory information, are available for download on this page.

 

When you submit your application it should contain the following:

  1. Membership Application Form (pdf file 151k, Word doc 121k)
    Completed by yourself, signed by yourself and your sponsor.
  2. CV
    An up-to-date and comprehensive CV, not exceeding 2 sides of A4, signed and dated by you and your sponsor.
  3. Statement
    A brief statement indicating the contribution you have made to the materials, minerals and mining industries or other organisations involved in the science and engineering of materials, minerals and mining. This should not exceed 2 sides of A4, and should be signed and dated by you and your sponsor.
  4. Two Referee Forms (Word Doc 45k, pdf file 16k)
    To be enclosed with your application, unless these have been sent directly by your referees to the Membership Department. Referees must be of the grade FIMMM.
  5. Application Fee
    The amount is £130 for a new member and £65 if you are upgrading your current membership.
    Please note that your application form, CV and statement of contribution must be signed and dated by you and your sponsor.
