Brief A: ‘Premium carrier pack’

This is a great opportunity to reinvent the widely used shopping bag, and design a really effective new solution for the retail industry using a flexible and recyclable material. You may look at a range of sizes and different retail markets from fashion to food. The use of interesting graphics, messages and branding should be considered, as should folding and storage options. A potential secondary should be explored, as 90% of household currently re-use their supermarket carrier bags.
Brief B: Liquid containers for the kitchen environment

Each week consumers purchase a number of containers whose primary function is to hold and store liquids. The objective of this brief is to develop a family of designs that fit into the modern kitchen environment and complement style and use, with a theme that can be continued across a brand.
Brief C: Point of sale unit for media market

An opportunity to design an effective and eye-catching 3d unit for cinema foyers or supermarkets. A unit made from corrugated material with creative print and graphics, which will enhance a media category or product of your choice. The unit needs to be easy to assemble and contain the media product securely but with great visual and design impact.
Brief D: ‘Food on the Go’ range for a high street coffee shop

The objective of this brief is to develop a lunchtime packaging solution using carton board, which promotes the importance of taking a lunch break with the innovative packing of food items. You are to select three items, excluding sandwiches, to create a coffee shop style lunchtime range – such as a wrap, panini, roll, salad or cake bar – and produce not just an a effective container or dispenser for the chosen items, but also to provide a fun experience for the consumer.
Brief E:New Tea packaging

Hot and cold tea is drunk all over the world and by many different cultures and generations. Tea is often seen as a healthy option, it is comforting to some, invokes a form of ritual, and in some cultures is seen as a ‘peace drink’. Your task is to design a range of packaging that reflects all the positive aspects of the drink but also takes into account a new, modern lifestyle environment.
Brief F: J20 bottle design and POS

The J20 product is an iconic and hugely successful product within the drinks market. In order to maintain its appeal it must continue to evolve as a brand and therefore needs a fresh design, aimed at the 25-30 year old market. The shape of the bottle, graphics and supporting point-of-sale needs to be re-designed to appeal to new and existing customers.
Brief G: Corrugated in the 21st century - a new packaging concept

This brief sets the challenge to make use corrugated board in a new and innovative way, pushing the boundaries of what is currently possible in modern packaging. You may chose to use an existing brand or create your own, to design a novel and versatile packaging solution.

The aim of your project is to demonstrate the growing function of secondary corrugated packaging in enhancing and diversifying a brand in retail outlets. For the purpose of this brief we have created a fictional brand called "SKolapop" it is a carbonated soft drink packed in a standard 330ml aluminium drinks can.
