Surface Engineering Division committees
The Surface Engineering Division has three committees/groups, whose areas of interest are outlined below.
Corrosion Committee
The primary function of the Corrosion Committee is to represent the Institute's
interests in this important matter. We have found increasingly that liaison
with external bodies with similar interests is vital to the promulgation of our
remit. Hence, we have strong links with a number of UK, EU and International
bodies including the Institute of Corrosion, European Federation of Corrosion
and NACE International, and seek to operate collaboratively with them at all
times.
IVE: The Vitreous Enamellers' Society
IVE: The Vitreous Enamellers Society is the UK-based technical institute for excellence in vitreous enamelling. Formerly The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers (IVE), this modern, dynamic, experienced organisation aims to advance enamelling technology, science and best practice and to offer help with training, advice and information to industry, specifiers and to the general public. From November 2010 the activities and membership of the IVE have been embraced by The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3).
Society for Adhesion and Adhesives (SAA)
The SAA is active in promoting the advancement of the science and technology of adhesion and adhesives. We strive to accomplish our goals by disseminating technical knowledge via a range of seminars, conferences and publications. This includes the proceedings of such meetings and a rolling newsletter, which appears on our website.
The Coatings and Surface Treatments Committee
Coatings and surface treatments play a pivotal role in all sectors of
manufacturing industry. The Coatings & Surface Treatments Committee is part of the Surface Engineering
Division and focuses its activities on the science and processing of
surfaces to improve their functionality in a wide range of applications
from aerospace to white goods.
