Charles Rhodes IEng FIMMM - Councillor representing North East Region
Charles RhodesCharles Rhodes is a retired Mining Electrical Engineer having spent his working life in the British Coal Industry, culminating in the post of Senior Electrical Engineer, Northern Group, British Coal. However he remains very active within the mining industry with his involvement with the Institute.
He has been an Institute member since 1974 which at that time was the Association of Mining Electrical and Mining Mechanical Engineers, and a Fellow since 1995.
Charles was the President of the Institute of Mining Electrical and Mining Mechanical Engineers, Yorkshire North West Branch in 1988 and is currently the Honorary Secretary of the Midland Institute of Mining Engineers, a position held since 1995.
As an elected Councillor he represents the North East Region and has been a member of the Local Affairs Board since 2002. Charles was elected a Trustee of the Members Benevolent Trust of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining in 2008.
He has a keen interest in seeing the Institute grow at local level, promoting greater interaction between societies, and encouraging the recruitment and progression of younger members.
